What is conductive and neural hearing loss?

Conductive hearing loss (C.H.L.) occurs when sound is not conducted efficiently through the outer ear canal to the ear drum and the tiny bones of the middle ear.it usually involves a reduction in the sound level or the ability to hear faint sounds.some possible causes are:-

• Fluid in the middle ear from cold.
• Ear infection.
• Allergies
• Poor eustachian tube function.
• Perforated eardrum.
• Benign tumors
• Presence of foreign body
• Impacted ear wax

Conductive hearing loss Can be corrected by medicinal or by using surgical methods sensorineural hearing loss (SNHL) is a type of hearing loss in which the root cause lies in the 8th nerve i.e. Vestibulocochlear nerve, the inner ear or central processing centers of the brain.it can be mild, moderate or several including total deafness. the great majority of SNHL is caused by abnormal at birth or damaged during the lifetime of an individual. there are external causes of damage like noise trauma and infection and intrinsic abnormalities like deafness genes.

• Do not insert any sharp object in the ear.Always use an ear bud to clean the wax or consult a doctor.
• Loud noise should be avoided as it may damage the normal hearing cells of the ear
• One should consult a doctor if suffering from recurrent respiratory infections and take proper treatment to boost up immunity.
• If you go for swimming,do not allow water to go inside the ear as it may cause infection.
